On Post Housing ( Rent On-Post )
You can contact the housing office at 907-334-6000 for Fort Richardson and 907-753-1023 for Elmendorf AFB. Please keep in mind that there is a process involved in renting on post housing to include wait times.

Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson is a joint base that was formed out of consolidating Elmendorf Air Force Base and Fort Richardson. The joint base was created in 2010 as part of the Base Realignment and Closure Initiative. Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson is one of only twelve joint bases created. Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson is home to the headquarters of the United States Alaskan Command, the 11th Air Force, and the Alaskan North American Aerospace Defense Command Region. Other tenant commands assigned to the base include the United States Army Alaska, the 3rd wing, and the 673rd Air Base Wing. Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson is located near Anchorage, Alaska. Military personnel interested in on-post housing should contact the Housing Office at 6346 Arctic Warrior Drive to fill out a housing application and be placed on any applicable waiting list. Housing units number over 2,000 for military families. Housing at Fort Richardson is limited so the wait time can be as long as 6 to 9 months. There are over 100 officer quarters and over 800 enlisted units. All housing is assigned base on the number of bedrooms requested. There are over 65 units allotted to single family members. Off-post housing is available including homes for rent and apartment complexes but very few properties take pets. Some housing costs in Anchorage may be higher than the standard basic housing allowance.
Temporary housing is available at Fort Richardson Lodging which offers over 90 guest rooms. Housing can be arranged through the billeting office by calling 907-552-2454, DSN 317-552-2454 in advance of arrival. Single service members must report to the Military Personnel Division for room assignments. There are a limited number of temporary housing facilities who accept pets. Some may accept pets with a health certificate that is 30 days or newer and charge a pet fee. Room rates are discounted, and most are nonsmoking.
